We are bombarded daily by ideas, concepts and other peoples ideas. We do not judge or become aware of the influence that is impressed on us. The way we live our lives is based on what we have learned from others, Ron Ball tells of research he has studied that discusses two types of people
There are people who are externally focussed and those who are internally focussed. Most of us are externally focussed, we are at the mercy of other people’s view of us, We are driven by the need for approval. We do what everyone else does, thinks and feels.
Our lives are the expression of those around us. We do what we are programmed to do. We get upset, annoyed, driven by other peoples operating systems. It may be our mother or father, family, the school and the teacher’s we were influenced by. The government view, our church or religious indoctrination.
At the markets the other day i was speaking with a love;y young couple about magnesium. I mentioned that the source of Ancient Mineral’s Transdermal Magnesium was from a 250 million year old seabed in the Netherlands. The young woman smiled and said “I am a Christian” meaning she believed the Theory of Creation. I suspect she has never truly considered any option other than what some religious “preacher” had instilled in her. This story relates to all of us in some way.
The second type Ron Ball mentioned were the internals, these people are rare. They are driven by their own internal beliefs, goals and dreams. Nothing sways them from where intended goal.
We are all capable of being driven by our internal vision. It simply means we need to Stop,Think and Act instead of Acting, Thinking and only then Stopping.
A couple days ago my energy dropped and i slipped into ‘Poor Me” and i started to feel unhappy and unmotivated. I was angry, annoyed and not a happy chappy. It took a couple of days to turn the ship around. I had to shift from being stuck in the muck to seeing the funny side of the drama i had created.
Depression and anxiety can be shifted by doing things differently, laughing out loud for 15 seconds, smiling for 5 minutes ( it is also a way to reduce pain), choosing to see the good in life and focussing on the positives in your life.
Thoughts are things, Ed Foreman, talks about this in many of his lectures. Ed tells some wonderful stories about changing our thinking, choosing to be happy, inspired and focussed on Being Doing and Having what puts a smile on your face.
Each day, who do you listen to? Are you switched on to the idiot box, dumbing yourself down? Do you listen to the negative, hate filled radio shock jocks or read the Lie Sheets – newspapers?
How long since you switched from being externally controlled by the negative fleet of misery guts and listened to inspired speakers like Ed Foreman, Ron Ball, Kevin Trudeau or the plethora of inspiring people?
How long since you have opened a motivational book such those written by Wayne Dyer, Loiuse L. Hay, Napoleon Hill, Maxwell Morse?
If you are externally driven it might be time to choose more wisely Who You Listen To!
To finish remember the lesson from Ed Foreman “Life is for living, loving and learning”.
