Today i had an interesting experience in the Power of Praise. I was in a local department store looking for a pair of sun glasses. A young girl came to serve me, she was polite, well informed and courteous. The glasses were just below the price on which the discount would apply. She smiled and said she could do something.   I walked away to  consider my decision. Returning she was serving a customer, i politely interrupted and thanked her for her excellent service and headed off to consider the purchase.

On my return she wash not at the counter. Another lady approached me and asked if i had been there earlier. She commented the young girls had mentioned my interest in the glasses. At that point I reiterated that I had been impressed with her service.

It turned out i was speaking with the manager who had taken pride in the fact the young girl had mentioned my compliment. I am very glad to here that was her feedback.  She went to say how proud she was of her whole team and how fortunate she was to have such great staff.  She said this in front of her staff.

A fish rots from the head first.  This manager understood the Power of Praise and recognition. When the young lady returned we continued to discuss the quality of the whole team. The smiles on everyones faces was reward enough for taking the time to offer a simple heart felt compliment for a job well done.

I walked away with an excellent deal and superb service. I know when i return to that shop i will always receive great service and possible a warm welcoming smile.

The staff all felt happy and pleased that had made a difference with their high quality service and being appreciated.

How easy it is run someone down to pick fault or be negative? It takes no skill to focus on what is wrong. To look for the best, seek out the gold is a sign of success, of a wise compassionate person. Create magic is someones life, find something, anything that will build a person up.

Anyone can hold a person down, It takes a special person to give a hand up to everyone we meet. We are all that special person when we choose to focus on the good in everything around us.
