Is money really the key to our happiness? Is it the great panacea that washes all life’s dust from our weary souls?

What is money? This is probably a good place to start, money is no more than a promissory note, an IOU, where we trade our time and effort for something that actually has no real value. It is a myth, a beautiful, exquisitely crafted myth we strive to possess, to own and to make us happy or repress our deepest fears and limitations. Money is not real, that can be a little hard to swallow, it is created out of thin air and backed with our blood, sweet and tears.   It really is created out of thin air. Watch the movie Thrive to gain a better understanding of the money game.

When working with clients many come in thinking it is money they want, that money will solve all their problems. Clients will speak about how different their lives will be when they win the lottery, when their business finally makes a profit, when they get that dream job.

When questioned further about what they really want different answers begin to appear. Dreams of a beautiful house, travel, a loving relationship. Imaginings of helping children in third world countries, saving the earth, the environment. Money can buy and help with all these things, it is not however the real goal and this is why many people never achieve there stated outcomes.

There are people driven by poverty to make incredible wealth and live the life of the rich and famous. Yet deep inside the true goal lies dormant, their unfulfilled creative expression slowly flickers out replaced by the need to hold onto all their material possessions and in turn becoming slaves the the very things they craved to set them free.

When we set money as our goals we can end up selling ourselves out for our lowest common denominator. We sacrifice our dreams for the the illusionary IOU , the magic panacea. We prostitute ourselves on the alter of debt to satisfy a part of ourselves that in turn, entraps in a spiral is discontent.

Money is powerless, we are the power, we are the value, money is simply the recognised form of value exchange.

Next time we are evaluating our goals, take the time to look at what we really want, go to the feeling place of it. Is it really the money? Do we really want to walk around dressed in money, live in a pile of money. Is it a night in a beautiful restaurant with people you love eating paper money?  Sounds silly doesn’t it?

We are goal orientated servo-mechanisms (Maxwell Maltz- Psycho Cybernetics). We attract what we focus on. When we focus on wanting money from a fear space, it is highly likely we will attract more fear based reality into our lives. If we focus on what makes our hearts sing, that is what we will attract.

The world has changed from a world of thinking (intelligence and the brain) to the power of the heart. If we have not made the transition we will be stuck in a imploding world view that limits us to a bygone era.

Using our thoughts to create our reality is going to attract what we think we want. Rarely is what we think what we really want, fear was woven is tentacles delicately though of vision and slowly and deliberately strangles us with our own effort.

Going to the feeling place of what we want ignites our passion, of inner burning desires. The whole magnificent creative force of the universe is mustered to answer the call. When we really feel that feeling of having it now can we unleash this invincible energy and focus it like a laser on our goals and dreams.

When really pushed, very few people want the money, they really want that delicious feeling of being and doing what they really love. They want to express love in the way only they can do.
