Depression and anxiety can not be easily diagnosed in a 5 minute quick fix appointment.So many contributing factors need to be considered and reviewed.
What is our diet like?
Are we drinking clean water?
Are we taking the time to relax and look after ourselves?
Has stinking thinking taken hold in our heads?
Having nothing to look forward to, no reason to get out of bed to the untrained eye can be perceived as a depressive episode or an anxiety attack. Totally lacking motivation could easily have us prescribed anti-depressants.
Having no goals, no ambition to achieve or a cause to work towards can very quickly become mind numbing and lead us onto the aimless highway. The road to no where, with no outcomes possible other than negativity taking root and coming to full bloom within us.
We all need a goal, a purpose, something bigger than ourselves to aim for. Something to work towards achieving. It seems to be at the core of our human condition. As Maxwell Matlz stated in Physcho Cybernetics – we are goal orientated servo mechanisms.
Having a vision, a quest runs deep within us. Sometimes the goals are someone else’s we have adopted or were thrust upon us by an over zealous family or guardians. Society has a set of parimeters we are unconsciously drawn into. The protestant work ethic that has become the underpin of the anglo-saxon world. Without questioning we follow the rules, act out the script without questioning whether it is in our best interest.

What excites you?
You may love video games, while it may not earn you a living there is no reason we can not dedicate part of our day to playing video games. Many kids labeeled ADD or ADHD have amazinfg focus and dedication when they play their video games.
Finding a way to connect that enthusiasm with ofther parts of our lives can be beneficial.
It might be time to sit down with pen and paper (yes, pen and paper) and start your I want list. No judgement, no limits, no restrictions. Let it flow, write all your desires and wishes. Keep going for a few days or until one or two issues or topics become obvious.
Stat with them, start thinking and dreaming about what you want. Have an inner dialogue around having it now. Let the feelings build. These may or may not be the desired outcome, it will however help to get us moving towards something. Once we build momentum we can change tracks as we continue to focus in on what our dreams, our purpose is.
