So often when we are stressed or over focussed on something in our lives the best solution may be to take a break. Go do something else or take a short holiday so you can clear your head, relax and have time to gain a different perspective.

Drugs, alcohol and food are probably not the best solution at times like this. Physically remove yourself from the situation. Go away for the weekend, reconnect with nature or do something you love.

Shifting your energy is a way to clear the mind, open up the solution centres within and let the creative ideas surface.

I have just returned from four days on Fraser Island. I was a little stuck and not seeing the potentials in front of me. Four days of walking bare footed in the sand, getting up for sunrise to be on the beach photographing may seem, to the highly driven, unproductive time.

In fact the opposite was true, i had time to observe people from a  different perspective, time to simply walk the beach, read or just hang out.

In the process the format for a whole new book presented itself. A book i had not really considered before. The subject is close to my heart and the information has been gained by climbing many hurdles and questioning myself many times. Spending quiet time in nature cemented the concept for me.

I can hear the standard excuses, “I’m too Busy, I have to look after the family I have took, I have too I have took!!!! Stop with the excuses, time out is one of the most productive activities we can undertake. Maybe it is only a couple of hours, a day or a couple of days in a different environment to stimulate the creative juices.

As i walked the beaches looking for photographs, as i sat at the local general store or over dinner my mind could see and hear the issues that are effecting people and the simple solutions that could change the dynamics for the better.

Doing the same old, same old is not always the most creative way to spend our time.

Works bothering you? -Go for a walk

Family hassles? Spend some time alone to reconnect with yourself

Relationships a little frayed at the edges? Go for a walk on the beach/ forest/ etc or do something outside your normal routine.

Four days on the Island has invigorated and made me more focussed and committed. Now I can get moving forward again.

We sometimes spend to much time appearing to be busy or talking to much about what is wrong.  Change. Do something different. Focus on how it can work and let go of the Why Nots.
